Jack Move!

I found this on the CrossFit Flagstaff page while I was looking at old posts. Click the link and enjoy!

We all struggle. There isn’t a person on the planet who doesn’t wrestle with the mundane and the meaty, the burrs in your sock and the wounds in your side. There are days when you just don’t know how you’re going to make it until lights out and there are weeks when a cloud doesn’t cross the sun. But no matter, we’re all the same, trying to make sense of it all when it feels like you’re trying to thread a needle while wearing mittens.
Adventure, however you define it, is an escape. Sports, they’re a respite. As Kundera wrote, laughter is forgetting. But also, there are lessons, and enlightenment. We find ourselves out there, and who we find is the stronger for it.
Michael, the subject of this achingly inspiring short film by Sean Mullens, has challenges in his day that one can only imagine. But he suits up and paddles out, and in the water finds what we’re all looking for.
“You can transcend. You can get to a place where you’re free,” he says. “Just to be what you were meant to be.”
Amen, brother.
