Memorial Day "Murph"

Today was a really hard day that left me feeling the way I am supposed to feel at the end of the day. The workout is named in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. The workout is a mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats, run a mile. It was pretty brutal to say the least. A few hours later I went back for round 2 which consisted of 210 double unders, 21 turkish get ups, 21 back extensions, 150 double unders, 15 turkish get ups, 15 back extensions, 90 double unders, 9 turkish get ups, and 9 back extensions. This workout was equally as brutal as "Murph" and I was completely wrecked afterward. I had some filming fails and neglected to film the back extensions. So that was a wrap on my day, I'll see you guys tomorrow.

RRRRRRRRRReeest Day!

I have good news! I'm really starting to pay attention to my body. This is a good thing. Mainly because, I will train to much and get overtrained or sick. And we don't want any of that business. Plus tomorrow is Murph Monday! On memorial day every year we do the Hero WOD call Murph. CrossFit has a bunch of workouts called Hero WODS that are named after fallen soldiers and police officers. These workouts are extremely difficult and require a lot of heart just to get through it much less finish in a respectable time. Murph was named after a fallen Navy Seal. So tomorrow we will be honoring him for Memorial day. So its a good thing I took today of, because tomorrow is going to be a long arduous journey filled with pain and accomplishment. As always I will have video footage :D

Day 6

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkMnYzEGPIg

This mornings CrossFit really wiped me out. I had very little time in between the workout and the Megaton Jiu Jitsu seminar. And let me tell you something, I was really feeling it. We really learned a lot, plus whatever we learned, we drilled over and over again. I still had enough energy to do a short run afterward, but I didn't have enough to run in high winds that we were experiencing all day. So I just took it easy the rest of the day and went and watched some half way decent fights. I have 2 workouts planned for tomorrow. I am going to re visit Jeremy again, mainly because I feel I could have done way better then I did the first time. Then I'm going to go do a stadium run workout. I'm pretty excited about it. Thanks for the support, and I'll see you soon!

Grappling Giants

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S7w7gpvKMk

I had a really fun workout at CrossFit this morning. I really like workouts that have rounds and rest like this one. They really work well for the type of training I need. We had a really good night as far as Jiu Jitsu training goes. Worked on lots of different types of guards to prepare for the black belt seminar tomorrow. After all of the drilling, we got some sparring in. One of the last guys I went up against is one of the biggest guys in there. He is somewhere between 250 and 260 pounds, so it takes a lot of work to get that guy into the positions I need him to be in. I submitted him with an arm bar once, then the second time around he submitted me with a choke. All in all it was a fantastic day of training and I can't wait to get back at it tomorrow!

Aww Rest Days, How I Love You

I'm resting today, thank god. I got pretty banged up in kickboxing last night, so I definitely need it. Let me tell you about this KT Tape. This stuff is a marvel of modern engineering to say the least! Last night before I went to bed I could barely walk as a direct result from a perfectly executed inside leg kick. My knee was swollen and in a great deal of pain. I put the tape on and let it do its magic over the course of my exodus from being awake. This morning when I awoke, there was no more swelling and the pain had greatly diminished. I have been a big fan of KT Tape for quite some time now, and it continues to prove its worth each and everytime I need it. Thanks for all of your support, and I'll see you tomorrow!

Earning Rest Days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHbhOUvDUHo

I started out the day with 5 sets of 5 Front squat. After work I ran a 5K (3.2 miles) and followed that up with a Weakness WOD. 21 GHD sit ups, 15 butterfly pull ups, 9 ring dips, 15 GHD sit ups, 10 butter fly pull ups, 6 ring dips, 9 GHD sit ups, 3 ring dips. I would like to film some stuff at my MMA gym but I don't trust some of the people in there, I'm afraid they're going to jack my stuff! I have come to the conclusion that I'm over this kickboxing business, there is no longevity in it. I'm sticking to primarily Jiu Jitsu and boxing. Here is a video of one of my more successful kickboxing rounds.
